How do I set up "Keypad and Card" on an E3

  1. A door can either be set up “Keypad or Card” OR “Keypad and Card”.  Doors will not grant access to some “Keypad and Card” users and other “Keypad or Card” users.  For a user to have “Keypad and Card” for every door, every door must be set at “Keypad and Card” for ALL USERS.

  2. All users must have the same format card

  3. Enter your code on the keypad first THEN swipe your card

 

In order to use “Keypad and Card” the following requirements must be met:

  • Card format created for the keypad

  • Card format created for the cards/FOBs

  • Door settings created for “Keypad and Card” with the keypad format selected.

  • User has a card created and the keypad code in Key Number

Create card format for keypad

  1. Hover your mouse over the Administration Icon  and navigate to Card Format

  2. Click on “Decoder”

     3.  For “Auto Scan” select the door that the keypad is plugged into.

     4.  Clicking “Card Scan” will give 30 seconds to enter a 1 – 5 digit code followed by a * (or # depending on the keypad).

     5.  Enter a “Card Format Name” and select “Add”.

 

Create card format for card/FOB

  1. Hover your mouse over the Administration Icon  and navigate to Card Format

  2. Click on “Decoder”

  3. For “Auto Scan” select the door that the reader is plugged into.

  4. Clicking “Card Scan” will give 30 seconds to swipe your card at the reader.

  5. Enter a “Card Format Name” and select “Add”.

 

Set door for “Keypad and Card”

  1. Hover your mouse over the Door icon  and navigate to Controller.

  2. Click on the door in question and select “Edit” at the bottom of the screen (scroll down).

  3. Navigate to the “Reader” Section and change the reader type to “Keypad and Card”

  4. Select the format previously created for the keypad

     5.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save"

 

Add a card and keypad code user

  1. Hover your mouse over the Administration Icon  and navigate to Card Holder

  2. Find the user in question or click “New” to add a new user.

     3.  Select "Add Card"

     4.  Select the "Card Format" previously created

     5.  Enter the "Card Number" and "Key Number"

     6.  Select an access level that grants the user access to the door in question

     7.  Click "Save"

 

 

NOTE If the user requires the card to be swiped before entering the code, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the card format in the door settings

  2. Enter the keypad format in the user settings

  3. Enter the card number in “Key Number”

  4. Enter the keypad code in “Card Number”
