Does the PERS Console or DX transmitter emit radiation?

Linear PERS equipment produces far lower RF emissions than today’s digital cell phones. The simple explanation of relative power is that it would take approximately 20,000 one second transmissions from a Linear DXS-62A pendant, to equal the same amount of RF energy from a one second cellular telephone call.

The more complicated explanation is provided below.

Digital Cell phones have a peak power limit of up to 2 watts*, as set by the FCC in the United States. Cell Phones are designed to operate at this high power level so that they can send their signal long distances (up to approximately two miles...) to reach the network of cell towers to relay the call.

Linear personal transmitters (Like the DXS-62A and DXS-64) transmit at a power level that is much lower than the Cellular maximum, and our RF Engineers have calculated that number at approx 0.0001 watts. PERS systems can use low power, because they transmit over very short distances.

The actual RF emissions from our PERS-2400B console (a receiver) are even less than that produced by the DXS-62A pendant. The console is intended to be placed in a central area of the subscriber’s home, so that the unit is nearby to allow for speakerphone conversations with Central Monitoring Station personnel when needed.

Note: This is the amount of power allowed to be applied to the base of a theoretical isotropic antenna, and is used to provide comparative power to other devices. It is not the actual field strength of the RF energies that could be measured at a distance from the antenna.
